Excited for something

I just love the excitement my Boarder Collie Jake has for playing catch.  It was a great day in the park across from the house, we made two trips accross the street to just play catch. You know what I'm talking about, the slobbery tennis ball that I have to wrestle after every throw.  But he just loves it!
I was thinking about the classes I have the honor of teaching each week and just wish for someone with the excitement that Jake has for learning.  You can see it in their eyes and hear it in their voice.  We surly do not see enough of these individuals.  So hats off to my Boarder Collie Jake for making today a special day.  One that was shared with someone with passion and excitement for the day.

What is your biggest fear

Fear for some can be numbing, or paralyzing. For many other people they could give a care. So what is it that makes us go to the extreme? 100% of present behavior is based on past experience.  Having the right state of mind could help you past your fears in some instances.  One of my biggest fears is Bees, any kind of bees.  Being around them does not make the fear go away.  What is your fear?  Failure is on most every one's list, it is on mine. I also know if I let fear control me than I would never try anything new.  Don't be held hostage to your fears.  Step out of your comfort zone, and try new stuff.  Who cares if you don't win EVERY TIME.
Have a great attitude today!

Huh, something to think about

Do you have problems communicating with someone?
It could be your spouse, or a co-worker.
Do you finish their sentences?
Do you cut them off when they are talking?
Sometimes you just have to look in the mirror.

Slow down

What a great start to the year!  We are closing in on the end of the first quarter.  Many of my projects are successful.  Many of my goals are right on track for the year.  There is one problem however, where the heck did the time go?  The one thing that has not worked out the way it was planned is that there would be fewer Classes this year than last.  Huh, not working out the way it was planned.  When my schedule was drawn up there were open weeks, where did they go?
Is that how your schedule looks?  In talking to my wife it was discovered that my year was planned.  Here we are at the end of the first quarter and it is apparent how the year will end up.  There is much to be proud of as it flies by.  So next year there will be additional attention on "slowing down".
Remember the value of a great family, and the balance you need.
Have a great attitude and a great day!

Do you have a dream

I know where I want to be in 6 years! How about you? I have a plan to get there that I started a few months ago and is moving along well.
They say people believe that they are going to slow down when they get to a certain point in life. When does that happen? I work hard, and too much and find it difficult to not be doing something. Is that a good thing?
The bottom line is I do believe, I just worry it will not be enough.
Make sure you are believing in the right thing.

Life is about the choices we make

It is one thing to take a chance the first time,
it is another to do it again and again.
We were having a discussion today.
It is like bad credit,
it did not happen because you make one mistake.
Bad credit is from many mistakes over time.

What is your challenge today!

With so many opportunities ahead how do you chose?
How do you chose what challenges you will overcome today?
Up to this point in your life you have overcome 100%!
So what ever it is you can handle it.

7 Pieces of Information Per Minute

The longer that I visit and train people the more the fact becomes clear. If your going to train focus on one maybe two points. When you train an entire process in just a few hours it is just going to be an overview. The real training starts after the overview. How many pieces of logical information can you process in a minute, the number that I have read is 7. Just thinking of a Meet and Greet I find 25 elements, yet we run through the process in a matter of minutes. What is the potential if we could start to master each of the 25 elements to the Meet and Greet alone?
So I am excited, and ready to open my mind up to what could be... How do we bring our people along to get what they deserve in their sales and management positions?
Have a great day and a great attitude today.

Are you ready?

I was working on my website and looking for a picture that would make you think "are you ready".  Nothing brings clarity like past thoughts.  This picture is clear in many high schools and colleges around the country right now. Ready, Set, Go! When I think of Monday fast approaching this is what comes to mind. When I schedule my time it is measured not in days but weeks. That narrows the field of play. That mean that I only have 52 weeks versus 365 days to complete my tasks. What is even more eye opening when you think that there are 4 weeks to a  month and it will be gone. So my takeaway for today would look like this, if it is Monday and your trying to plan your week,  you are behind. By the time the starter says "ready" you could already be behind. Think ahead! Are you ready? Plan your day or you could be playing from behind all week.

Give thanks!

Some days you just need to give thanks. My blog is about attitude, and finding the "secret". You know the law of attractions. Be positive and positive things will happen if you believe. There are times however that you just need to stop and thank those that are closest to you for putting up with the madness within, haha. There must be days when my wife would like to send me away for being too positive, for being passive when things do not go my way. That must be difficult at times to be around. I like to believe it makes me more mature, but that is up for discussion if you have ever seen me running late (I hate late). So today is a great day to say thanks to my wonderful bride. It is not an anniversary that I forgot, or her birthday. No, just a day to stop and say thank you. I am always excited for what is to come. Have a great attitude, and thank someone for no reason at all today. Play it forward, and thanks for reading.

Can you say great day yesterday?

Yesterday was a "WOW" day for me. First let me thank the person involved in the WOW.  "The Rook". Ok, a little explanation for this outburst. We all have strong points, and understand the most successful CEO/CFO's and Managers of any field realize a simple rule, surround yourself with people that know what you don't! We cannot master all aspects of an industry. So find an expert. For me yesterday was one of the many in my life that I realized that there is much to learn. And that I was never going to master everything. I spent an hour on the phone and gathered some very valuable information on Social Media, Marketing and ON-Line Reputation growth. My belief was that I had a sufficient knowledge of what that might look like, you know gaining a good reputation On-Line. Uh NO CLUE. So this blog is about giving up your know-it-all attitude. "The Rook" did not dig into all of my On-Line content, but his quick overview was the type of information that I needed. Not the typical "yes man" responses, he gave me true feedback. Isn't it frustrating to try to improve and everyone always tells you have great it all is, all the time you know it is just a bunch of smoke. So thank you The Rook for your time yesterday and your honest appraisal. Looking forward to more meetings filled with honesty and personal growth!

Hurry, Hurry, Hurry I'm Late

How do you feel when your late? A little anxious, nervous inside? Well now that just describes me to the "T". Just like everything else, there is a saying and it sounds like this, "know in advance, do in advance". Just meaning if you know it must be done and you have a few minutes a day, week or month ahead just do it. In a nutshell, that is today for me. For the first time in some time my schedule is out of whack... No excuses, I just did not follow my own rules. So here is my blog for today. Just do it! Get ahead of the day by completing those tasks that you will need completed tomorrow, next week, next month. We all have 24 hours, what are you doing with your day?
Have a great attitude and a great weekend.

The best of the best

What is it that makes the best the best? My guess is that many Managers and trainers have that same question. Could it come back to how we deliver information to our staff? The more training classes that I conduct the more my belief is that we give way too much information and expect our people to absorb and master those points. Let's consider just a Meet and Greet in any industry. How many pieces are there to a Quality Meet and Greet? What if we mastered them? So let's think out loud, what is it that goes into a great Meet and Greet? Words, tone, body language, smile, handshake, mirror, eye contact, hygiene, engaging, professional, excited, enthusiastiac and on and on. We just listed 13 things, could we go on? There is more, then you think did we ask the right questions, did we set the stage? Now the next challenge is when we did train the last time what did we do? Ok folks, lets pair up and role play the meet and greet. We talk through it a few times and say "check" training is done. Could we have just wasted an opportunity? We are going to play like we practice. Did they do a good job or mutter through the words? Did we really look at the Meet and Greet or is it like many tests, they just told you what you wanted to hear. What if we mastered one of the essentials each week and then put the Meet and Greet together? We know the "Best of the Best" know how to do many of the things we just discussed. Our average consultant does not do a good job with a meet and greet. You don't believe me, just ask them. If they stutter, and struggle then you will know. Does their meet and greet give the right first impression or are they like the guys up the street?
Have a great attitude today!
Win the day.

Challenges come in different ways

As a trainer part of my job is as a motivator. There is a first time for everything that ever happens in your life.  Yesterday was a first time for me to really face someone that was losing hope in my classroom. As I spent my typical day working on Attitude I did not notice the struggling individual that was in the group. As a matter of fact I would not have picked this individual as someone struggling. It is amazing how well we can hide our feelings and attitudes when we do not want to be seen. This individual looked polished, and ready to go. It was not until after the class was dismissed that I was about to learn more. I was about to find a new challenge. This individual moved slowly, almost reluctantly towards the door. As the last person left the room they approached me. What came next caught me off guard. The next few minutes were tough. This person described the struggles, how it has been wave after wave of frustration over the past few months. In what has been one of my biggest challenges I searched for the right thing to say. All I could do is go to the basics. It was time for an attitude check. As we sat back and talked for over an hour taking time to breath it came down to some basics. What are some of the positive things in your life? If everything was gone, what can you hold onto? Family, friends were first. That was a starting point. I then shared "The Secret", a book that I had been reviewing. If you have not read it, it talks about positive, laws of attraction. I ask that they review the book, to read some pages and get some footing and take some notes. I never saw that challenge coming. My hope is that finding footing is a great start. We discussed that everything did not happen overnight, and it would take time to set things right. But maybe, just maybe we have started to "right the ship". That is my wish for today.

Are you excited for the day

Oh, the gift of another day! What doors will open and close today? I am thankful for today, another day to accomplish, adventure, to  love, to learn and to witness miracles of compassion, and joy. Yes, I have expectations of good things. I read somewhere yesterday that we have to have thoughts, I just determined mine were going to be good ones.

How do you know

How do you know you made it? You know, your successful? How do you know? Is there a real way to tell that you made it? Is it driving a big Mercedes Benz or a bigger house.  I strongly desire to be successful. Some people say that I am already there. As for me, not so sure. So sometimes that question comes to mind. Zig Z says it means "doing the best we can with what we have"? How do you define success. Well to me it is not a bigger car, house or material things. In part it could be having the ability to have what want, and the wisdom to know it is not living with long term intentions. Some questions you must ask yourself is "am I happy"? Do I have a "passion" for what I spend my time at? Do I have "options", have I made sound decisions each day that provide freedom for the future? Do I still challenge myself each day?
It seems that I have more questions than answers today. Just something to think about.
Have a great attitude today!

Recharge yourself!

There is nothing wrong with down time. Funny that this is something that I struggle with, with so many goals and so little time.  It is unhealthy to run 110 miles per hour everyday 7 days a week. Something has to give, someone is going to cry "Uncle".  So remember to take care of yourself, take some time to be down and recharge. Vacations, days off just to get away.  If not over time you will find that your productivity may drop and you may become less effective.

How busy are you?

This morning when I got up my mind was running before my eyes were open. Let's see, check in for my flight to San Diego tomorrow, oh and I have to go here, and here, and there, and oh don't forget... I was tired before my feet hit the ground. Here is my question, where was my game plan? Was it written down last night before I went to sleep? I knew there were a lot of things to do. So did my brain. So this morning what happened next is vary important, stop and write a "to do list".  Although behind, time will be made up just having a plan. It was a great reminder to be ready for the day because it is coming. Have a great Attitude today.

We work our arms but not our brain?

It always amazes me to hear of the individuals that are willing to rise at 4AM to "hit the gym". I have never heard a person claim to get up at 4AM to "read a book". Your brain is just a muscle. Remember the old saying if you don't use it you loose it? It works just the same. When you wake up in the morning you should warm up your brain just like warming up before a jog. We do that in training classes using daily affirmations. We start with something positive in the  morning. How do you start your mornings? Start it with the right attitude. Have a great day.
